American white pelican in flight
American White Pelicans (pelecanus erythrorhynchos) spend much of their year in large colonies in central and northern parts of North America, but overwinter in the Pacific and Gulf coasts, as well as along some major rivers. These large birds have a wingspan of up to three meters, and do not crash dive like the Brown Pelican, but catch their prey in their large beaks while swimming.Add to Cart Add to Lightbox
